On Saturday, October 20, Lynchburg Virginia received a huge treat when Good Charlotte came to play at Phase 2. The crowd was packed with folks of all ages that viewed, sang along and enjoyed the performance. Speaking as an avid and loyal fan for decades, the show was Amazing.
Since at least 1998 this Maryland based band has been together consistently with the same members including brothers (and heartthrobs) Joel and Benji Madden. They have had a number of successful albums with songs featured on movies and soundtracks. Most of the fans were easily able to sing along with the amazing 15 songs set list that was played that evening. Vocalist Benji got off to a great start with Generation RX followed by Self Help and led straight into The Anthem. Playing a new track entitled Prayers and moving to a crowd favorite Hold On the brothers made a point to get candid with the crowd and let everyone know how much they appreciated the attendance and support of their fans. Benji went on to note that he was feeling quite under the weather and experiencing medical issues. He still felt compelled to come play a show for everyone that night. It was so uplifting to have the band touch on personal notes and even invite a young fan to get close to the stage during a few songs. The set list continued with hits such as Girls & Boys, The Story of My Old Man, Little Things and came to a finale with Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous.
The show was absolutely amazing. When the band comes to a town near you, it is definitely worth seeing live.
